Heirloom enchants
Warcraft Wiki lists four heirloom enchants, all shoulder inscriptions from the Sons of Hodir. One character that reaches Exalted with them can buy the inscriptions and send them to alts. Applying one makes that copy of the shoulders soulbound.

Greater Inscription of the Axe
- Warbound
- Shoulder enchant
- Requires level 30
- Enchanting the item causes it to become soulbound
- “One of four heirloom shoulder inscriptions.”
The four inscriptions
- Greater Inscription of the Axe
- Greater Inscription of the Crag
- Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle
- Greater Inscription of the Storm
Each adds stats to shoulder armor. The stat values on Warcraft Wiki date from an older patch, so read the tooltip in game before choosing one.
Where to buy them
From Lillehoff, the Sons of Hodir quartermaster, at Dun Niffelem in the Storm Peaks of Northrend. You need Exalted reputation with the Sons of Hodir to buy them. Only the top-tier version of each inscription is an heirloom; the lower one sold at Honored is not.
Sources disagree on the price: Warcraft Wiki’s Heirloom article lists 100 gold, while the Greater Inscription of the Axe page lists 80 gold.
Rules worth knowing
- The inscriptions are Warbound, so one Exalted character can buy them for all your alts.
- The tooltip requires level 30 to use one.
- Applying an inscription makes that copy of the shoulders soulbound.
- Warcraft Wiki notes that spare heirloom copies can be deleted without issue only if they have not been enchanted.
- The tooltip says they cannot be applied to items above item level 600.
Which shoulders to enchant
Inscriptions go on shoulder armor. Pick from the heirloom shoulders for your armor type, then see how heirlooms work for creating copies.
