Heirloom set bonuses and what happened to the XP bonus
Heirlooms stopped giving bonus experience in patch 9.0.1. Instead, wearing several heirloom pieces activates one set, the Regalia of Fabled Adventurers, with bonuses at 2, 3, 5, and 6 pieces. Two of those make your rested experience last longer; the 5-piece bonus boosts you every time you level.

Which slots count
The set lists seven pieces: head, shoulders, chest, legs, cloak, necklace, ring. Weapons, off-hands, and trinkets are not part of the set, so they never count toward a bonus.
What happened to the experience bonus
Before patch 9.0.1, heirloom shoulders, chests, cloaks, helms, legs, and rings each added bonus experience, up to 55% in total. The level squish in 9.0.1 removed that bonus and replaced it with this set.
The 2-piece and 6-piece bonuses do not add experience. They slow how fast your rested bonus is used up, so the same rested bar covers more kills and quests. That helps most on characters you log out in an inn between sessions.
The set lists the 6-piece reduction as an additional 30% on top of the 2-piece one. It does not say whether the two combine to 60% or apply one after the other, so we have not put a single number on it.
Burst of Knowledge
At five pieces, every level-up triggers Burst of Knowledge. It deals Holy damage to enemies around you and raises your primary stat by 40% for 2 minutes. Each kill extends it, up to 2 more minutes.
Cheapest way to five pieces
- Shoulders and chest from the heirloom curators, 500 gold each.
- A necklace from the curators, 700 gold.
- Helm and cloak from a guild vendor, 500 gold each, once you are Honored with your guild. Legs also need the guild achievement Working Better as a Team.
- A ring if you have one: see heirloom rings.
Without a guild you can reach four pieces: three from the curators plus a ring. The fifth needs a guild vendor.
