How to upgrade heirlooms
Buy an upgrade token from the heirloom curator, then use it on the heirloom in your Collections. A new heirloom scales to level 30; each of the 6 tokens raises that cap, up to 70. Armor uses Armor Casings and weapons use Scabbards.

Every upgrade token
Gold prices are what the curators charge. Timewarped Badge prices apply at the Timewalking vendor during Timewalking events. Holiday and other currencies are on every upgrade token, and running totals on upgrade cost.

Step by step
- Open Collections, choose the Heirlooms tab, and hover the item. The tooltip shows the level it currently scales to.
- Visit Krom Stoutarm or Estelle Gendry and buy the next token in order. Armor, trinkets, shields, and off-hands take a casing; weapons take a scabbard.
- Use the token on the heirloom. A token only works on an item that already scales to the previous tier’s level, so you cannot skip ahead.
- Create a fresh copy from Collections. Upgrades apply to the heirloom itself, so every copy you create afterwards carries them.
Other ways to pay
- Timewarped Badges. Timewalking vendors sell every tier during Timewalking events. For the expensive later tiers this is far cheaper than gold if you already have badges.
- Holiday currency. Midsummer Fire Festival, Lunar Festival, and Hallow’s End vendors sell armor casings. Brewfest and Love is in the Air vendors sell scabbards.
- Quest rewards. The curators’ collector quest chain rewards some of the early tokens.
What to upgrade first
- Upgrade armor before weapons. A scabbard costs 50% more than the matching casing at every tier.
- Upgrade only as far as you level with heirlooms. If your alts reach level 60 and then switch to new gear, the Awakened tier buys nothing.
- Count the set bonus. Five set pieces give Burst of Knowledge on every level-up; see set bonuses.
Necklaces and rings
The casing tooltip names armor, trinkets, shields, and off-hands. Warcraft Wiki’s cost table also prices jewelry upgrades with casings. Until that is confirmed in game, treat necklace and ring upgrades as unconfirmed.
